Planning a trip to Chiang Mai and want to train authentic Muay Thai? Here are the questions we hear most often from travellers and first-timers at Sedthee Fight Club. Still unsure about something? Get in touch — we are happy to help.
Do I need any experience to train at Sedthee Fight Club?
No. We welcome everyone from complete beginners to professional fighters. Our Thai coaches and champions Sedthee and Teresa adjust every session to your level, so you will never feel out of place.
I have never done Muay Thai before — can I still join?
Absolutely. Most travellers who walk in have never thrown a kick. You will learn the basics — stance, footwork, punches, kicks, knees and elbows — at a pace that suits you. See our classes.
How fit do I need to be to start?
Any fitness level is fine. Muay Thai itself will get you in shape — go at your own pace, take breaks when you need to, and the coaches will push you just the right amount.
What should I bring to my first session?
Bring water, comfortable athletic clothing and a small towel. If you own hand wraps and gloves, bring them; if not, you can use ours to get started. We train barefoot on the mats, so no shoes are needed.
Do I need my own gloves and equipment?
No — you can borrow gloves and pads for your first sessions. If you are staying a while we recommend getting your own hand wraps and gloves for comfort and hygiene; there are great shops nearby and we are happy to point you to them.
What should I wear for training?
Muay Thai shorts or any athletic shorts with a t-shirt or sports top. Training is barefoot on the mats. Bring a change of clothes — Chiang Mai is hot and you will sweat.
When are classes held?
We train Monday to Saturday, 08:30–10:30 and 17:00–19:00, plus Boxing on Sunday 16:00–18:00. There is also a women-only class every Friday, 10:30–12:30. Full details are on our schedule.
Do I need to book in advance?
For regular group sessions you can simply drop in. For private one-on-one coaching, message us ahead so we can arrange a coach and a time. Contact us.
How much does it cost to train?
We offer flexible options — single drop-in sessions, weekly passes and monthly memberships — so it works whether you are in Chiang Mai for a day or a few months. See current rates on our pricing page.
Where is the gym located in Chiang Mai?
We are at 67 Taeparak Rd, Chang Phueak, Mueang Chiang Mai — just north of the old city and easy to reach from most Chiang Mai accommodation. Find us on the map.
How do I get to the gym?
Most travellers walk, ride a scooter, or take a Grab or songthaew. It is a short ride from the old city and the Nimman area, and there is space to park a scooter.
Can I train if I am only in Chiang Mai for a few days?
Yes — short-term visitors and drop-ins are very welcome. Even one or two sessions are a great way to experience authentic Thai Muay Thai while you travel.
Is there a women-only class?
Yes. Alongside our mixed classes we run a women-only Muay Thai session every Friday morning, led by 2× WMC World Champion Teresa Wintermyr, in a welcoming and supportive space.
Are classes taught in English?
Yes. Our team coaches international travellers every day and instruction is English-friendly, so language is never a barrier.
Can you help me prepare for a fight?
Yes. Whether it is your first fight or your next one, our coaches offer dedicated fight preparation — pads, clinch, sparring and ring craft. Ask us about getting matched for a fight.
